History of the 15th South Carolina Infantry 1861-1865  Archives and History.

            James B. Clary of Gaffney, NC has compiled an impressive history of the 15th Volunteer Infantry Regiment.  The work stretched over 12 years and took him to National Military Park historians, the Museum of the confederacy in Richmond, the Southern Historical Collection at UNC, the National Archives, the South Carolina Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum in Columbia,  local and regional newspapers, libraries, state agencies, and descendants of soldiers.  Included are maps and illustrations.

County Office Annual Reports. Department of Social Services

            Several County Social Service Offices have filed annual reports for 2006-2007, including Richland, Anderson, Horry, Orangeburg, Florence, Darlington, and other counties.  Some of the reports  are brief, but all contain specific counts of citizens served, costs of benefits, and total expenditures.  According to the reports, the percent of households receiving food stamps range from 10% to almost 30%!

South Carolina Law Enforcement Training Survey: A National and State Analysis  USC Department of Criminology & Criminal Justice

            The study of law enforcement recruit training for municipal an dsheriff’s departments addressed three questions:  How does the SC mandated training compare with other state systems, Who offers additional training, and What agencies have field training programs.  Their results find South Carolina falling behind in training hours and content required, in agencies offering training, and field training.  The report is available for library use in print and on CD.
