During February and March the Library received some interesting and colorful documents.  Here are some of the highlights:

• Count Your Steps in 2008!  DHEC Office of Minority Health.  H3496MI 2.C58

DHEC and BCBS have produced a unique way of recording your walking habits in this colorful, attractive calendar featuring SC’s assets:  CHILDREN!  The calendar has full page photos of children walking for health and has space to record your own walking each day. 

• South Carolina Agricultural Statistics SC Dept of Agriculture Ag8333Aec 2.A36 No. 497

In cooperation with USDA and Clemson University the Agriculture has produced a compilation  of statistics on crops, livestock and poultry, 2005-2007.  Well organized as usual, so it is easy to find which county raised the most turkeys or had the most beef cows that calved or what commodity produced the highest cash receipts.

• Legislative documents

We have received the 2007 Journal of the House of Representatives (5 vols.), the January 31, 2008 issue of the Digest of Senate and House Bills and Resolutions, and the January 25, 2008 issue of the State Register.  Copies of these are available in the Documents Room of the State Library.

• South Carolina Production Guide 2008  Dept of Commerce C736Fi 8.P65

The SC Film Commission of the Department of Commerce is working hard for us to attract the attention of film producers.  This publication is a tabbed reference that has names, addresses and information on the resources, services, businesses available to support the film industry.  This handy reference book is bound by rings so it can lay flat. 

• Status of Equal Employment Opportunity in South Carolina State Government  2008 Human Affairs Commission  H8804 3.S71 2008

The Human Affairs Commission is required to submit a report on the status of affirmative action plans and programs in the state agencies each year.  The report contains the number of persons employed race and sex, and a breakdown by race and sex of those hired or promoted for the entire state government and for individual agencies.  The book has a section of color graphs and pie charts that help give a picture of our employment situation.
