Lee county Library's 1st annual Cook-Out is an unquaiified Success!

The Library Staff would like to thank the entire community for their support of the first annual cook – out to help support the 2008 Summer Reading Program. The turn out was fabulous and a good time was had by all. We would also like to thank the cadre of willing volunteers who came together to give their time to help us.

Zack Medlin, the all around "fix-it" volunteer guy here at the library is now known, affectionately, as the "Condiment Guy." Zack’s help at the service table made sure that everyone got their required condiments in each box. Laura Windham, friend and supporter of the library, is now known as the "cole slaw girl" for her excellent preparation of the cole slaw. Where others just see cabbage and mayonnaise, Laura sees opportunity for excellence. Cheryl O’Kelley Cole handled tickets and cash handling with aplomb. She also served as greeter and general back up guy. Elizabeth Roberts, a weekly volunteer/intern at the Library, helped on the service line and generally kept up the spirits and good humor of the entire group. A huge THANK you to all the volunteers who helped make this fundraiser a success. We appreciate your help and give you all a well deserved (metaphorical) hug.

We also thank Mike Bedenbaugh for allowing us to use the Fire House and the Fire Fighters. Fire Fighters Eric Parker and Brian Eargle ran the grill and kept us with a steady supply of hot dogs and burgers.

But, finally, we would really like to thank the entire community for supporting this effort. It was a great opportunity to meet and greet our friends and get together for a good cause.

We would like to remind our patrons that the computer policies at the library are quite clear. There can be only two people per computer and that is only if homework assignments are being completed. Other wise, for social networking or general use, only one patron per computer is allowed. When groups occupy a computer, it can be distracting to the patrons who are working on homework or completing job requirements. This policy will be STRICTLY enforced.

Fun Factoid: Today is "National Cherish an Antique Day." Being a bit of an antique myself I think this is a grand idea!! In lieu of that take the time to appreciate objects that are made with love and craftsmanship from our past. Hove a great week.
