The Lee County Library's Summer Reading program has a full and busy schedule of events.

Whew, the LC Library had one of it’s busiest weeks last week!!! On Tuesday, the Summer Readers went to The Drug Store Café in Lynchburg where owners, Mr. Ken Lytch and Mr. Mark Greene greeted the Readers warmly.

When the summer readers arrived they were greeted and given a small presentation by Mr. Lytch on proper table settings. Then we had an open forum on proper table manners in a restaurant. This led to many humorous suggestions; but many valid suggestions were presented and the readers all learned from each other.

Next, we all sat down to a great lunch and practiced what we had learned. What a great program this was. We all had fun, learned something and got to eat! Sounds like a win-win to me!!

Also on Tuesday, the Librarians hosted a meet and greet for the Salkehatchie Service Volunteers. The young people toured Bishopville; stopping at the Cotton Museum and the Dennis House. Then they walked over to the Library where the Librarian's had prepared light refreshments.

Luckily the Librarians had turned the computers on! These teenagers had been computer deprived for two days and the computer stations were three deep with kids.

The Library also delivered Popsicles to the volunteers on Wednesday and Thursday. We have great pictures of these events up on our Flikr page .

We salute these spirited volunteers and thank them for their service to our community.

Finally, Mr. Tom Wampler, local Bishopville artist, put on an absolutely fabulous puppet show at the library for the Summer Readers. For over an hour Mr. Wampler had the children enthralled!!

His message of listening and learning was presented in a lighthearted and humorous manner. His puppets were too cute!!

Many thanks to Coach Wampler for his great presentation.

Summer reading continues with a trip to The Pizza Hut, a song and story presentation with Judy Tunes and a trip to EdVenture in Columbia.

Happy Fourth of July to everyone in Lee County!!
