The Librarians are planning the Annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Library! Mark your calendars for April 5, 2007 at 11:00AM. We will meet in the Old Library Yard. Come prepared for fun, games and surprises!! The Easter Egg Hunt is one of our favorite projects at the Library. So, come prepared to hunt, hunt, hunt! Those Librarians have some pretty sneaky places to stash Easter Eggs. The South Carolina State Library, Talking Book Services, invites you to participate in an online book discussion Tuesday April 24th, 10:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. We will be discussing Fannie Flagg’s Can’t Wait to Get to Heaven. This is a great book and a pretty light read. If anyone would like to participate in this program, please call the Library at 803.484.5921 and ask for Elizabeth. Let’s try this, it could be a hoot! On the “New Release Shelf”: “A Long Way Gone, Memoirs of a Boy Soldier” by Ishmael Beah. This book is a gripping account of a young man who was forced to become a boy soldier in Sierra Leone at the age of twelve. At 16 he was removed from fighting by UNICEF. Through the help of rehabilitation he has learned to forgive himself, recover his humanity and finally heal. This is an extraordinary and mesmerizing account told with uncommon honesty and humanity. If you were moved by Elie Wiesel’s “Night”, you will enjoy this book. “Wish You Well” by David Baldacci is the heartwarming story of a precocious twelve year old who moves from New York City to the Virginia Mountains during the 1940s. This book is compelling and stirring, an old fashioned coming of age story. It is a detour for Baldacci, but a great read. New DVDs: “Happy Feet”, “Casino Royale 7”, “Rocky Balboa”, “Peter Pan”, “Fantastic Four”, “Everyone’s Hero”, “The Holiday”, “The Nativity Story”.
