Ten staff members have completed the second annual Leadership RCPL program at the Richland County Public Library.

The unique professional development program culminated with individual presentations and a graduation ceremony on June 19.  2008 graduates from across the library system include: Amy Allen, Youth Services; Madelyn Bowers, Youth Services; Georgia Coleman, Southeast Regional Branch; Amy Grossberg, Technology; Kelly Horn, Blythewood Branch; Crystal Johnson, Information Services; Sarah Maner, Extension Services; Laura Rogers, Youth Services; Allison Thiessen, Information Services; and Meg Wempe, Information Services.

Designed to identify, develop and retain future library leaders, the six-month program gives participants opportunities to focus on essential leadership skills such as team building, decision making and problem solving. Additionally, program participants are given an in-depth overview of the library’s administration and operations, including the budget process.

To be selected for Leadership RCPL, interested employees must apply, and the competitive selection process is based on an anonymous, third-party evaluation.
