Job Description

• Develops, troubleshoots and maintains the shared Integrated Library System. • Maintains and troubleshoots computers/software in library’s Electronic Research Center. • Operates as library staff authority on circulation and patron access, including their governing policies and procedures. • Troubleshoots problems reported by library staff, and, when needed, follows up with vendor support staff. • Manages reports and policy tables that govern circulation and patron services. • Configures properties, toolbars, staff access, and user records. • Customizes the public interface using scripting languages, Cascading Style Sheets, and widgets. • Acts as a liaison between library units (Access Services, Cataloging, Acquisitions, etc.), the campus Information Technology Department, the library’s consortium, and other library vendors. • Confers regularly with ILS vendor staff, advocates for enhancements to circulation and the online public catalog, monitors reported issues and seeks their resolution, schedules and manages annual maintenance procedures, and manages new releases and the implementation of new features. • Demonstrates ability to work with people with varying levels of computer skills, as well as the ability to make technology understandable to the library staff and other College personnel. • Trains library staff, individually and/or group, on changes in software and procedures and assists library staff with guidance and training in report generation. • Scans system logs to trace system or user behavior. • Extracts and prepares relevant data from the ILS to be distributed and analyzed, including statistics as required. • Provides support for third-party applications that interface with the ILS software. • Works with College’s IT Department to ensure that online library resources are accessible both on and off campus to students/faculty. • Troubleshoots issues related to library print management system • Maintains and troubleshoots library’s EZ Proxy Server. • Maintains EBSCO Discover Service (EDS). • Maintains and troubleshoots library computer hardware. • Maintains computer peripherals. • Serves as library content editor for library’s webpage. • Engages in training to stay current on ILMS developments and documentations, other software systems, and related technology. • Serves on library committees, task forces, and professional committees as elected or appointed. • Performs other duties as assigned. DIVISION: Academic Affairs DEPARTMENT: Learning Resources Center (Library) WORK SCHEDULE: 8:00 a.m. 4:30 p.m., includes a rotating weekend schedule; 12 months; SALARY: Commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

MLS or MLIS from an ALA accredited institution and a minimum of 3 years of experience in the library field, with emphasis on ILMS, library services platforms, and user services.
