Job Description

Richland Library seeks an individual who is excited about the prospect of helping customers to utilize the Library’s media arts resources by joining a team of professionals in the Studio Services as a Media Arts Coordinator at Richland Library Main. The ideal candidate has general knowledge or ability to learn modern library organization, procedures, policy, aims and services to help activate and program the Main Library’s multimedia lab. This position reports to the Studio Services Librarian.

Salary:
$1,552.50 biweekly salary, plus benefits

Hours:
37.5 hours per week, including one evening per week and every third weekend

** Richland Library may change location and schedule of any library job.

This job involves being “on the move” in our libraries: It will include standing, walking, crouching, stooping, squatting, twisting, climbing, pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds, and lifting up to 25 pounds.

Here are some of things you would be doing if hired for this position:

  • Assisting library customers in using the Library’s media resources and equipment, for example: video camera, recording equipment, and editing software
  • Staffing public service points on the Second Level
  • Planning and conducting media arts programming
  • Maintaining liaison activities with local media artists and media arts organizations
  • Keeping informed of trends and issues in the media arts community
  • Assisting in overall planning for media arts services
  • Participating as a team member on projects within the Studio Services Department
  • Developing and participating in special projects
  • Assisting in promoting media arts resources and services in branch libraries or community locations
  • Serving as a media arts resource for staff system-wide
  • Performing other associated duties
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university; preference given for a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science or another relevant area of study. Transcript must be presented upon hire.
  • Specialized knowledge or skills developed through work experience related to public libraries and/or media arts
  • South Carolina driver’s license with safe driving record may be required
  • Ability to perform job functions.
