The Kershaw County Library, serving the beautiful South Carolina Midlands, seeks a dynamic, energetic Library Director with a successful record of leadership and innovation. Kershaw County possesses an economically diverse and growing population in an area of small towns and tranquil rural settings, and is a community that values culture, the arts, and education. Kershaw County offers an opportunity to lead a thriving county library system (headquartered in historic Camden, South Carolina) that enjoys excellent community support. The library’s $1.1 million budget provides services to the county of 65,000 residents via the main library headquarters, two branches, and a bookmobile.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE: Knowledge of public library management: library technology; electronic resources and services; budgeting and financial oversight; project management; supervision; and strategic planning. The Library Director will be adept at effective public relations and skilled at building relationships with community groups, employees, elected officials, private businesses, and non-profit organizations. MLS from an ALA-accredited program and a minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in a public library or equivalent. Must have or be eligible to acquire a South Carolina driver’s license.
