Overview

Claflin University is accepting applications for a full-time Information Literacy and Integrated Systems Librarian.  The work days are Sunday - Thursday.  The working hours are:  Sunday:  3:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Monday - Thursday:  2:45 p.m. - 12:00 midnight.

Responsibilities

The Information Literacy and Integrated Systems Librarian reports to the Library Director and provides leadership for the Library's role as a campus partner in student success.  Assumes responsibility for managing integrated library systems, including setup and troubleshooting, resolving hardware and software issues, and planning, scheduling, and managing all aspects of system migration.  Plans, develops, and conducts library information and literacy instruction, collaborates with faculty and staff in the design and delivery of information, and provides reference and instructional assistance.  Serves as technical lead manager for multiple library systems by providing expertise and working with staff across the Library to develop programs that automate tasks related to access and discovery. Provides leadership for the development, update and maintenance of the library's web page, electronic resources, and databases. The Information Literacy and Integrated Systems Librarian will analyze data, produce reports, manage collection development areas and user services through the circulation department, and develop, implement, and assess Library tools and services by focusing on usability, accessibility, sustainability, and performance.  Performs other duties within the scope of this position.

Qualifications

American Library Association accredited master’s degree or equivalent is required or work experience may be substiuted for education. Three (3) years progressively responsible administrative and supervisory experience in an academic library.  Proven leadership experience. Experience managing an integrated library system or related electronic system in an academic environment preferred.  Knowledge of computers, office applications and library related software, research procedures and software, and library policies and procedures required. Strong technology skills, proficiency with web design and web authoring tools, and knowledge of print and electronic information resources required. Must possess knowledge of evaluation, assessment, and planning methods and strategies. Ability to catalog library materials in all formats using ExLibris, explain technical issues and solutions, employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate library and information literacy skills to students, work independently and as a team, and interact effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population required. Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, organizational, problem solving, customer service, and decision-making skills required. Some physical demands and activities associated with library functions may be required.
