Newberry College invites applications for a full time, 12-month (tenure-track faculty) appointment as the Director of Wessels Library. This position provides leadership in advancing the College’s mission through a clear vision of the Library’s role, strategic directions, sound fiscal management, staff supervision and collaborative management style. The Director has a strong understanding of academic libraries within the context of liberal-arts higher education and is attuned to the issues, trends and forces affecting libraries today. The Director of the Library will enhance communication and collaboration with other departments and promote and strengthen the Library’s role as the academic center of the campus.

MLS or MLIS from an ALA accredited college or university; minimum of 5 years experience in an academic library; 2 years as director or assistant director; must have a proven ability to teach, manage staff and student assistants, negotiate with vendors, collaborate with colleagues and undergraduate students of varying interests and abilities.
