Job Description

Richland Library is seeking a library professional who is energetic, outgoing, and possesses a positive attitude to help others pursue their career and/or small business goals at the Business and Careers Department at Main. At Richland Library Business and Careers you will join a team of highly qualified professionals who make a difference in people’s lives, whether they are seeking help in their job search, looking into advancing their careers, or just utilizing or learning about the wide range of resources available at the library. The following are among the various duties you may be performing in this position: * Answering reference questions for customers in the library as well as remotely, utilizing print and online resources in the Business and Careers and the Research and Reader’s Advisory departments, as well as all related departments (Walker Local and Family History Center). * Providing assistance for customers’ career and workforce skills development via the Library’s Business and Careers and Research and Readers’ Advisory departments and other library resources; including resume preparation, interview practice and online job application. * Assisting with the scheduling of customer Career Coaching Appointments. * Providing support services for students enrolled in Career Online High School (COHS). * Assisting with training of professional and non-professional staff. * Providing readers advisory services and bibliographic instruction. * Assisting other related departments managers in planning for and operation of the departments. * Compiling subject listings and usage guidelines for print and non-print sources. * Communicating and interpreting general library policies and procedures to customers. * Assisting with planning, developing materials for, and conducting computer, library research, small business and career skills classes. * Serving on departmental and library-wise committees. Qualifications

* ALA accredited MLS degree. Transcripts must be presented upon hire. * Specialized subject knowledge or skills developed through education and/or work experience, where appropriate. In this position, such skills may include current technology such as videoconferencing, text messaging, blogging, social networking, and MS Office Products. * Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
