Job Description

Richland Library is seeking a knowledgeable professional for the position of “Annual Support Coordinator”. Reporting to the Development Director, this individual performs various coordination duties for the Development Office, including work with Richland Library’s support organization, and administrative duties for the Development Office.

Besides items listed under “Minimum Requirements,” the following are some important qualifications:

* Knowledge of nonprofit organizations and of the community * Ability to work effectively with representatives of the private sector and corporate community * Positive rapport with business and community leaders * Ability to work well with support groups composed of community volunteers; and to provide successful fundraising events.

Here are some of the things you would be doing if selected for this important position:

* Creating and implementing the support organization’s annual giving program aligned with annual support goals, including identifying, cultivating and soliciting Literary Circle level ($500-$5,000) donors; managing direct mail solicitation; and managing the employee giving campaign. * Soliciting Literary Circle level donors by mail or in person. * Ensuring proper donor recognition, stewardship, and information confidentiality. * Creating and implementing strategies and tactics to broaden the donor base. * Creating and implementing donor cultivation and stewardship events including support organization Annual Meeting. * Working with the Development Director in creating and implementing an annual signature event for the support organization, including solicitation of corporate event sponsorships. * Coordinating the work of Annual Support and Special Events Committees of support organization board. * Establishing annual support fundraising goals and guiding annual support fundraising efforts. * Documenting and reporting annual support progress. * Creating, implementing, and monitoring the support organization annual budget. * Coordinating financial and accounting functions for purchases by Development Office and by support organization in accordance with Library Finance Office guidelines, including requisitions, purchase orders, and check generation and processing of checks, using MUNIS financial software. * Assisting in various other aspects of the work of the Development Office. * Working with Marketing & Digital Strategy and Community Relations departments on publicity and communications; and working closely with Finance Office and support organization Treasurer. * Working closely with various Library staff to utilize available resources and talents to support fundraising efforts of the support organization, particularly related to special events. * Coordinating appropriate recognition and publicity for support organization Board members’ work.

Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, public relations, or any other area of study relevant to the job. Preference may be given for a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science. (Transcripts must be presented upon hire.) * Four (4) years of relevant work experience, including experience with a nonprofit. Preference for other closely related work experience: fundraising, coordinating a volunteer group, public library work, etc. * Other combinations of relevant education and experience may be considered for possible equivalency. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required; familiarity with MUNIS and Raiser’s Edge preferred. * General working knowledge of accounting principles. * Valid driver’s license and safe driving history; availability of personal vehicle when needed.
