The Annual Literacy Leaders (ALL) Awards Nominations Committee is seeking nominations for the 2017 awards program.The ALL awards are presented by the School of Library and Information Science (SLIS) at the University of South Carolina in the fall of each year to individuals and/or groups that have had a statewide impact on literacy in South Carolina. Their contributions can include the following kinds of activities:

Dorchester County Library hires new Executive Director

Dorchester County Library has hired a new Executive Director. Robert C. Antill has been selected by the Dorchester County Library Board of Trustees to lead the growing library system effective May 1, 2017. After a successful bond referendum in which the library system will replace its Summerville location and add an additional location in North Charleston in the near future. Mr. Antill comes in at an integral part of growth in a system that has served the residents of Dorchester County with only two branches since the late 1970’s.

LIBRIS 2017 is in full registration mode! The planning committee has compiled a day of sessions that will challenge, inform and enlighten all members of the S.C. library community! We do hope you are making plans to join us on May 12 from 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at Columbia College, Columbia S.C. Opening speaker will be Dane Ward who is currently Dean of Milner Library at Illinois State University. Vendors will be there to meet you and to introduce you to their products. Scrumptious breakfast treats, a delicious meal will be provided. All this and more for only $35!
