Rawlinson Honored with Lucy Hampton Bostick Award

Helen Ann Rawlinson was honored with the 2009 Lucy Hampton Bostick Award from the Friends of the Richland County Public Library at its Annual Meeting on Sunday, September 27. The award recognizes Rawlinson's many contributions to RCPL and other libraries, as well as her efforts to support literacy and reading throughout the Midlands and South Carolina.

Berkeley County Library System Receives Google Community Grant for Urgent Needs

The Berkeley County Library System (BCLS) has received a $13,450 Google Community Grant from the Google Inc. Charitable Giving Fund at Tides Foundation to purchase laptops and charging cabinets to address increased demand for its services due to a weakened economy and a high unemployment rate.

World's Largest Commercial Jigsaw Puzzle on Display at Hughes Main Library

Piece together an exciting afternoon in the Children's Area at Greenville County's Hughes Main Library! A completed version of Life: The Great Challenge, the Guinness world-record holder for the largest commercial jigsaw puzzle, is now on display at the downtown library.

Lamar Library to Sponsor Art in the Park 2009 Back to School Bash and Book Sale

The Friends of Lamar Library will be hosting their final segment of this year's ART IN THE PARK series on Saturday, July 25 from 9:00 a.m. till noon. This segment is the Back-to-School Bash and will feature Science South (a mobile science lab), magician Chuck Miller, and hands on craft projects for various age levels. The famous IC Hope Duck will also be around for the fun.
