We are pleased to announce the addition of McGraw-Hill’s AccessScience to the DISCUS collection of online resources, which are available to state employees from home or office with a State Library card number. The premier source in AccessScience is the 10th edition of the McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Science & Technology, but the content also includes research updates, dictionary definitions, biographies, news articles and multimedia. The fully searchable media-rich content is continuously updated, so the database always delivers the most current information to users. Contributing to the authoritative content in AccessScience are 36 Nobel Prize winners, as well as many other experts in the fields of science and technology. |

The State Library has received updated salary information for state employees earning $30,000 and more. The October 1 printout, supplied by the Office of Human Resources, is available for use in the Library only. Ask for it at the Information Desk, 1500 Senate Street, Columbia, during our normal hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. |

State Library to Offer Free Training Sessions for State Government Employees. The South Carolina State Library’s Information Services Department is pleased to announce dates for the Fall 2007 series of free training sessions for SC State Government Employees. The Searching the Information Highways & Byways series is designed to assist state agency employees on how to locate reliable and accurate information as well as provide overviews and tips on specific topics related to online searching and services available at the State Library. |
