The 2008 SC Book Festival will be held at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, 1101 Lincoln Street, Columbia, SC on February 22–24, 2008.
The South Carolina State Library, Talking Book Services, invites you to participate in Tuesdays with TBS, a bi-monthly Online Book Discussion. Please, join us Tuesday, February 26, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. We will discuss Satchel Paige's America by William Price Fox. This book is available in cassette format (CBC 474).
Evangelist Regina Thomas, one of our Talking Book Services patrons, and author of the book “Walking by Faith: Swaddled in His Glory”, was recently interviewed by the TBS director Pamela Davenport. In this interview Thomas and Davenport discussed the circumstances in which Mrs. Thomas has lost her sight which led the author to start writing.
On September 20, 2007 the Columbia chapter of the National Federation of the Blind of South Carolina celebrated its 60th Anniversary at the Federation Center in Columbia. The event was well attended and the chapter president Frank Coppel served as the master of ceremony. M.B.

In 1960 the Telephone Pioneers of America were designated the official equipment repair group for the Library of Congress. Since then, Pioneers have repaired some two million of the special cassette and record players used by the visually impaired. We appreciate and depend on our Pioneers, especially Mr. Richard “Dick” Hawkinson.
