Summer Reading 2013

Ann Rogers, a longtime volunteer with the Oconee County Public Library, was presented with a South Carolina Governor's Volunteer Award in Columbia for her work with the South Carolina Room at the Walhalla Library. She previously won the Sarah Mills Norton Award for Volunteer Service at the library’s recent Volunteer Week dinner.

The South Carolina State Library is proud to announce award winning authors Peter Brown and Will Hillenbrand will be featured at StoryfestSC 2013—the state’s summer reading program kick-off event. Families from across the state will be able to celebrate the 2013 Collaborative Summer Library Theme Dig into Reading! at a free event for families held at the State Museum in Columbia on June 1, 2013.

The Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) announced the winners of the 2013 Teen Video Challenge.  The Teen Video Challenge is a national competition for teens to get involved with reading and their public library's summer reading program.  Winning videos were selected at the state level to be recognized as an official CSLP Teen Video Challenge winner for 2013. South Carolina’s winning video is titled “Day of the Living Books” and was sponsored by the Georgetown County Library.
