Wofford professor to present program at Sumter County Library

Wofford College professor and classical guitarist Jhon Akers will present a program titled “Carl Sandburg and Andrés Segovia” at the Sumter County Library on Wednesday, April 23, from 4 to 5 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.

Approximately 1100 students from South Carolina K-12 schools will march from the State Library to the State House grounds on Thursday, April 10 at 10:00 am to celebrate the importance of reading and libraries.
Celebrate National Poetry Month at the South Carolina Center for the Book

On Thursday April 24, 2008 from noon to 1:00 p.m., the South Carolina Center for the Book located at the South Carolina State Library will host Susan Meyers, Ray McManus and Ed Madden, winners of the South Carolina Poetry Book Prize. A major poet selects one poet per year to receive this award, which began in 2006 and is sponsored by the South Carolina Poetry Initiative and the University of South Carolina Press.
