Newsweek, the 80-year old weekly news magazine, announced in October 2012 that it would cease publication of its print magazine in favor of an all-digital format. The last print edition of Newsweek was made available with the December 31st issue.
DISCUS – South Carolina’s Virtual Library provides digital access to Newsweek through the EBSCO resource known as MasterFILE Premier. DISCUS users can retrieve full-text Newsweek articles from January 1990 to the present. In addition to Newsweek, MasterFILE Premier includes an extensive title list of many other full-text periodicals and reference books.

The State Library’s Information Services department is pleased to offer a class on how to use online resources to track legislation.
This is a 2 ½ hour class designed to familiarize users with ways to follow the process of legislation. Attendees will look at resources to find legislators, track bills, and find laws and statutes for both South Carolina and the U.S. Attendees will learn how to use the South Carolina Legislative Research website (scstatehouse.gov), other resources for state and county information, Thomas.gov and FdSys (NEW!), for federal resources.

The State Library is pleased to announce a new webinar series, South Carolina Government—Bit by Bit, on South Carolina government websites beginning on February 7, 2013. The one-hour sessions will address popular topics that state agencies address and reveal the wealth of information available through these resources.
