The South Carolina State Library will announce the selection of the most notable 2010 South Carolina State Government Documents at a ceremony to be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16. The selection is announced annually on or near Freedom of Information Day, March 16, the birthday of President James Madison, an early proponent of citizen access to government information.

The State Library proudly announces new free classes open to state employees, to library staff and to the public.
Legislative Information is designed to help citizens take advantage of SC and US legislative websites to keep up with the current sessions. It will review websites and print resources for tracking bills and regulations, contacting legislators, and searching databases of legislative materials. It is offered Tuesday, February 14.

We had an exciting idea exchange at the State Library today experiencing iPads, Kindles, Nooks, and Sony Readers. It was great to get input from staff and state government employees on how new technology can be used productively.
