SC Student Qualifies for National Braille Challenge Finals

Brianna Murray, a 10th grade violin major at The Charleston School of the Arts, has qualified for the National Braille Challenge Finals in Los Angeles, California.  She is the only student in South Carolina to ever make it to the Braille Finals and this is her third time qualifying.

SC First Novel Prize Winner Brian Ray to be Speaker at the Center

On Thursday, June 25, 2009, from noon to 1:00 p.m., 2009 South Carolina First Novel Prize Winner Brian Ray will discuss his novel Through the Pale Door at the South Carolina State Library as part of the South Carolina Center for the Book's Speaker @ the Center series.

Mackey Elected State Library Board Chair

Mr. Dan Mackey has recently been elected to chair the South Carolina State Library Board of Trustees.  Mackey, a native of Camden, S.C., US Marine Corps veteran, and 1963 graduate of the University of South Carolina, began his career as President of the Greer Chamber of Commerce.
